Entry: I went for a walk this morning around the neighbourhood. It is only just under 2 km but I do what I can at my age to remain active. I don't always want to go for a walk but I make myself and I think it is really good for my physical health and emotional health as well. I don't dwell on my aches and pains.

Entry: Sometimes it's not easy getting up and at it - walking. I don't always feel like walking but I have noticed such an improvement in my health since I started walking. I can't walk far or fast but I do notice that I have improved - can walk faster and farther and I have lost 10 lbs.

Entry: My wife and I walked along Skaha Lake. It's getting a little cooler in the mornings but still really nice.

Entry: Up early and went for a walk with my wife along Channel Parkway from Skaha Lake to Okanagan Lake and back. It's a really nice easy place for a walk, ride or run.

Entry: My husband and I have been walking up Vancouver Hill recently as part of our accelerated exercise regime. Besides the added health benefits of a longer walk and the increased cardio we also get to experience the beauty of this wonderful place that is Penticton. Saturday morning, we chanced upon these two male mulies munching in a downed orchard on Tupper Road. That's life in my town!

Entry: I worked in a stressful office. Aside from making it a point to get up and walk to other offices in the building rather than communicating by phone or email, and taking the stairs rather than the elevator, a group of us used to meet every day at lunch hour for a 20 minute walk- a loop that included quite a steep hill. It was a great stress buster to get outside the office and clear our heads. Now that I've retired, I still maintain the habit of a daily walk. Along with the exercise, it's a chance to reconnect with the world around me .I always return refreshed.

Entry: I have 2 regular walks that I love! The first is the Penticton River Channel from the SS Sicamous on Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake and the other is in Naramata along the lakeshore beginning at Warf Park and down Mill Bay.

Entry: Walking along the southern edge of Lake Okanogan at any time of year is spectacular. Start at the Japanese Gardens, continue past OK Park and the Dog Beach, out the length of the walking pier then along the shady beach path to the action of the tourist area. The finale is reaching the old paddle wheeler Sicamous and the rose gardens. Fabulous nearly 5Km walk by the time you return to your starting spot.

Entry: I hate to say it..but winter is coming. A really great way to get into some beautiful sunshine when we are in the 'dull days of winter' is to drive up the Carmi, park and walk up the road. It's not very busy and the road is plowed but the best part is that you are almost ALWAYS in the sunshine!!!

Entry: I've been a part of the Penticton Steps Out movement for the past 3 years and cannot say enough about the manner in which it has linked us as a community. From exciting guest speakers to numerous community events throughout the year, this program really rocks! I continue to support this incredibly worthwhile initiative and will spread the word to my colleagues and friends.

Entry: Mt. Keogan is named in honor of Michael Keogan, one of the first settlers in the region circa 1876. The mountain and surrounding lands are situated within the White Lake Grasslands Protected Area, managed by BC Parks.

The height of land supports an abundance of navigable routes for walking, hiking and biking, and those who summit will find one of the valley’s most amazing views.

Access the mountain trails by parking adjacent to Mahoney Lake and heading east through the false-locked metal gate on the east side of Green Lake Rd. You will see BC Parks signage in the immediate area The trails up to the summit are fairly well-worn, as this is a popular hiking and biking area.

Entry: Lake to lake is just on 5km, beautiful views everywhere of the east and west hills and valleys, there's a walking path alongside the river channel, paved all the way, a delight in nice weather to walk the entire path, 10km total and easy under 3 hours.

Entry: Since moving to Penticton, I have made a huge effort to become more healthy by watching what I eat and becoming more physically active. I love being a part of this community and really enjoy all the walking and biking I am doing.

Entry: Penticton is the best place to live. We love walking, running and biking here on all the great trails. After dinner tonight we went for yet another walk. We love walking no matter how long or short the walk is. Some of the trails need a little maintenance.

Entry: As a Gramma of 5 and a long time Pentictonite ,I really appreciate the wonderful area in which we live. I love to take the kids out on excursions, exploring the area and finding 'treasures' along the way. Any way in which we can get and keep our family and friends active , such as walking is definate benefit to the whole community.

Entry: Living in Penticton,the walks and bike trails are endless, daily we walk either in the Skaha beach area or the other end of the city along the Okanagan Lake, then there is the KVR to Naramata or the other side to Summerland. This afternoon we met with friends and walked along the beach at Sun Oka, Trout Creek, then up into the hills past the railway track along the KVR overlooking Summerland, then ice cream at Summerland Sweets ~ yeah! what a day.

Entry: As a busy mom of two, I had fallen off the wagon as they say when it comes to staying fit. I have rediscovered my love of walking and now make it a must to walk at least three times a week. I started with walking my daughter to preschool every Monday and now hit the gym the other two days of the week. There is nothing like enjoying the outdoors, all while staying healthy - both for myself and my kids.
